They told us their end date — on a check-in, in a text, at the end of the last assignment. It is sitting in the record and nobody diarised it. Calling in the week before they finish beats calling three weeks after.

They got through a screening and missed out because someone else was faster or closer. The screening is still on file, so the expensive part is already done — this is the shortest path from a new order to a filled seat.

A lapsed ticket is a cancelled shift discovered at 5:40am. Chased sixty days out it is a phone call; chased on the morning it is a client ringing about an empty station.

Not to move them — to keep the relationship and hear what the market is doing. Two out of three of these conversations end with a referral or a vacancy, not a resignation.

Somebody turned down $32 an hour in February. The order on the desk today pays $36.40. Nobody goes back through the declines when a rate changes, because nobody has the time — which is the entire reason this list exists.
